As part of the research into Free People of Color in St. Landry Parish, 1700-1865, I proposed and hosted a Community Collection Event at the Opelousas Museum and Interpretive Center to gather images and artifacts to use in the upcoming exhibit. Members of the community were encouraged to bring items in for digitization or to loan for display. Once the items were digitized, I complied them into a slide show that plays continuously as part of the the permanent exhibit.
